Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like Polymarket let traders freely set prices based on their beliefs about the true probability. Sportsbooks may adjust lines quickly to manage liability, whereas prediction markets aggregate information over time through continuous trading. For this match, comparing the prediction market's implied probability to sportsbook spreads can reveal whether one venue perceives an edge the other has missed, though both aim to reflect underlying match fundamentals.
On Polymarket, traders set the price of this market through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on one outcome, and the price you see reflects the cumulative bets of all participants. As more traders buy shares predicting one player's victory, that outcome's price rises and the implied probability increases. The market remains open to new trades until the event concludes, allowing continuous price discovery throughout the lead-up to the match.
