Prediction market odds often differ from traditional sportsbook odds because they are set by traders rather than bookmakers. In this market, the trader-driven approach can lead to sharper or more volatile pricing, especially as new information emerges. Sportsbook odds may incorporate different factors or margins, so comparing both can provide a broader perspective on expected outcomes.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this market is priced through trader activity, where participants buy and sell shares based on their beliefs about the outcome. The current top outcome reflects the aggregate sentiment, and the odds adjust dynamically with each trade. This mechanism allows for a decentralized, community-driven approach to setting prices.
