Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform operates under distinct regulatory frameworks, fee structures, and user demographics, all of which influence how traders price identical outcomes. Polymarket may attract different participant types or liquidity patterns than Kalshi, leading to temporary price gaps. Additionally, differences in contract design—such as how each platform frames the match outcome or handles edge cases—can create divergence. These gaps typically narrow as informed traders arbitrage across venues, but real-time differences are normal and often exploitable.
