PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket provides granular, scenario-specific resolution rules for match incompletion, retirements, defaults, and walkovers; Kalshi uses a minimal binary framework ('after a ball has been played') that does not explicitly address these edge cases, creating potential ambiguity in non-standard match outcomes.Hero tip: Polymarket's match-winner market explicitly resolves to the advancing player on retirement/default but 50-50 on walkover or cancellation. Kalshi's Yes/No structure does not distinguish these scenarios. If the match begins but does not finish normally (e.g., retirement after one set), Polymarket will have a clear winner; Kalshi may face resolution disputes. Use Polymarket's ITF-sourced resolution as the primary reference and monitor Kalshi for alignment.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Comprehensive edge-case handling: match winner resolves to advancing player on retirement/default/disqualification mid-match; resolves 50-50 for walkovers, cancellations, or delays beyond 7 days. Subset markets (set winners, game totals) also resolve 50-50 if the relevant set/match is incomplete. Primary source is official ITF information or credible reporting consensus.
  • Kalshi: Minimal binary framework: resolves Yes if either player wins 'after a ball has been played' in the Round of 32. No explicit rules for retirements, defaults, walkovers, or incomplete matches. Scope is limited to the match outcome without granular set or game-level markets.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Polymarket

This market refers to the tennis match between Alen Mujakic and Alessandro Bellifemine in the ITF Men Kursumlijska Banja, originally scheduled for July 8, 2026 at 7:00AM ET. This market will resolve to 'Alen Mujakic' if Alen Mujakic advances against Alessandro Bellifemine. This market will resolve to 'Alessandro Bellifemine' if Alessandro Bellifemine advances against Alen Mujakic. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match ends in a walkover (player withdraws before the start and the other advances automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The primary resolution source will be official information from the International Tennis Federation (ITF). A consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Kalshi

Resolution requires that a ball be played in the match. If the match is cancelled before play begins due to injury, walkover, forfeiture, or other circumstances, all markets resolve to $0.50. If a player withdraws or forfeits after play has started, that player's market resolves to No. Matches that are postponed or delayed remain open until the rescheduled match concludes, provided the reschedule occurs within two weeks.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets and sportsbooks price the same event differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, often adjusting for sharp money and public betting patterns. Prediction markets, by contrast, rely on decentralized trader consensus—prices emerge from buy and sell orders placed by participants who profit by forecasting accurately. This market's odds reflect what traders collectively believe will happen, whereas a sportsbook's line includes a built-in edge. Comparing the two can reveal whether public perception or professional traders see value in either direction.
