Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. This market may show different implied probabilities than traditional sports betting sites, particularly as new information emerges. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value opportunities for informed bettors.
On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker mechanism, where buying and selling pressure directly moves the odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability reflects the collective assessment of all active traders on the platform. As match details, player form, or other relevant information changes, the price adjusts in real time.
