Prediction market odds in this market often differ from traditional sportsbook lines due to the decentralized nature of trader-driven pricing. While sportsbooks may set their odds based on analytical models and risk management, prediction markets let participants bet directly on their beliefs. This can lead to sharper or more volatile prices, especially as new information about player form or conditions emerges.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, traders collectively set the odds by placing bets for or against each possible outcome. The current implied probability reflects the balance of buy and sell orders. As more participants trade, the market price adjusts to reflect the latest consensus, capturing shifts in sentiment or new data about the competitors' readiness.
