Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, which can create temporary price gaps. Polymarket and Kalshi also operate under distinct regulatory frameworks and settlement rules, influencing how traders price tail risk and timing uncertainty. Differences in order-book depth mean large trades on one platform may move the price faster than on the other. These spreads typically narrow as arbitrageurs exploit the gap, but during low-volume windows or breaking news, divergence can persist for hours, creating opportunities for alert traders.
Recent player form, head-to-head records, and court surface performance are key catalysts. Injury announcements or withdrawal news would trigger sharp repricing. Betting activity on external sportsbooks or social media sentiment shifts can also influence prediction market traders, especially if new analysis or expert commentary surfaces. Weather conditions on match day, seeding changes, or draws affecting player fatigue in prior rounds may shift perceived edge. Real-time match momentum—early set results or break points—will drive the most dramatic moves as traders update win probability dynamically.
