Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on expert analysis and then adjust based on betting action, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of a particular outcome. It's important to compare both to form your own informed opinion about the likely winner of the Istanbul 3 chess match.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to reflect the collective sentiment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring, and traders aim to profit by accurately predicting the event's result.
