During the 2026 Men's FIFA World Cup, this event concerns which player will score the first goal for Iran (excluding own goals).
The market resolves Yes for whichever Iranian player scores the first legitimate goal during the 2026 Men's FIFA World Cup. Own goals are excluded from consideration; if the first goal credited to Iran is an own goal, resolution is based on the next goal scored by an Iranian player that is not an own goal. Goals scored during regulation time, stoppage time, and extra time all count toward this market. Goals scored during penalty shootouts do not count. All players who do not score the first qualifying goal resolve to No, regardless of whether they participated in any match. If no Iranian player scores a goal throughout the tournament, the No Goalscorer outcome resolves Yes. Players are evaluated only on whether they score the first qualifying goal; participation in matches is irrelevant to resolution for non-first-goalscorers.
Prediction market odds on Kalshi often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts and sports media predictions. Markets aggregate real-time information and financial incentives from thousands of traders, while analysts typically rely on statistical models, team form, and historical data. For Iran: First Goalscorer, market odds may reflect recent player injuries, lineup changes, or tactical shifts faster than published expert analysis. Comparing Kalshi probabilities to major sports forecasting outlets can reveal where market sentiment differs from consensus expert opinion, potentially highlighting undervalued or overvalued outcomes.
Iran: First Goalscorer is priced on Kalshi as a set of binary contracts, each representing one eligible player outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract trades between 0 and 100 cents, where the price reflects the market's probability estimate for that player scoring first. Traders buy contracts they believe are underpriced and sell those they view as overpriced. The contract price directly equals the implied probability; a contract trading at 25 cents implies a 25% chance. Volume and liquidity vary by player popularity and match proximity, influencing bid-ask spreads and execution costs.
Key catalysts for Iran: First Goalscorer odds include player injuries or suspensions, official team lineup announcements, and tactical formation changes. Recent form, goal-scoring streaks, and head-to-head matchup history can shift trader sentiment. Weather conditions, venue factors, and opponent defensive strength also influence probabilities. Media reports on player availability, coaching decisions, or pre-match statements may trigger rapid repricing. As the match date approaches, late-breaking news—such as a star striker's fitness status or a surprise starting XI—typically generates the largest price movements. Trading volume often spikes in the hours before kickoff.
