Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome. Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders, aims to reflect the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust to incorporate new information and differing opinions, potentially offering more accurate probabilities. It’s common to see divergences between the two, especially as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a specific exact score. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher perceived likelihood. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to the latest information and collective intelligence of the traders participating in this market. The current trading volume indicates the level of interest in each possible result.
