These markets track the performance of Ohio State and Illinois in the third quarter of their college football game scheduled for September 26, 2026. Each market focuses on whether one team achieves a specific point differential advantage over the other during that quarter.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the third quarter of play in the Illinois vs Ohio State college football game scheduled for September 26, 2026. If Ohio State wins the third quarter by exceeding the specified point margin—from 2.5 to 23.5 points—the corresponding 'Ohio St. wins 3Q by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if Illinois wins the third quarter by exceeding the specified margin—from 2.5 to 10.5 points—the respective 'Illinois wins 3Q by over X points' market resolves to Yes. Should the game be postponed but commence within 48 hours of its original start time, all markets remain active and resolve according to the official third-quarter result. If the game fails to start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific outcome thresholds.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning with – but sometimes diverging from – traditional sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market incorporates a broader range of information and opinions from traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing risk assessments or the influence of late-breaking news. It’s common to see prediction markets adjust more rapidly to new information than sportsbooks, potentially offering a more accurate reflection of the likely outcome as game day approaches.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the third quarter spread. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that specific spread occurring. As more traders buy contracts predicting a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to efficiently aggregate information and reflect the collective judgment of participants regarding the likely point differential between Illinois and Ohio State in the third quarter.
This market resolves around Sep 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final third-quarter spread of the Illinois vs Ohio State game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics as reported by a trusted sports data provider. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will not. The market’s resolution is determined by the actual on-field result of the game’s third quarter.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before it resolves. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Illinois or Ohio State would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team’s style of play, could also move the market. Additionally, any shifts in public perception or expert analysis regarding the teams’ relative strengths and weaknesses, as reflected in updated betting lines, could prompt traders to adjust their positions and alter the price of contracts in this market.
