Polymarket and Kalshi may show different implied probabilities due to distinct user bases, fee structures, and market depth. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Platform design also matters: Polymarket uses an automated market maker, while Kalshi employs order books, leading to different price discovery dynamics. Liquidity concentration varies between venues, so large trades can move one platform more than the other. Additionally, each platform's rules and dispute resolution processes may attract different trader demographics with varying risk tolerances and information sets, naturally creating temporary price spreads that arbitrageurs gradually narrow.
