Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often aligning closely with sportsbook odds but sometimes diverging based on unique information or sentiment. Sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to trade on their beliefs, potentially leading to different probabilities. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information, such as injuries or changes in team form, than traditional sportsbooks. Comparing the two can offer a more comprehensive view of the likely outcome.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy shares in Iceland scoring first, the price of those shares increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined entirely by supply and demand, reflecting the collective intelligence of the traders participating in this market.

This market resolves around Sep 26, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the Iceland vs. Estonia match. The result will be determined by official match data and sources, ensuring a transparent and verifiable outcome. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final result of the game, as determined by these publicly available records.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Iceland or Estonia would likely cause a shift in the odds. Unexpected changes in team formations or tactical approaches could also influence predictions. Furthermore, pre-match analysis from sports commentators and experts, or even significant shifts in public sentiment, could drive trading activity and move the market. Major weather conditions at the match location could also play a role, potentially favoring one team over the other.
