If the match does not commence due to injury, walkover, forfeiture, or cancellation before play begins, the market resolves to a fair price. Postponed or delayed matches remain open until the rescheduled match concludes within two weeks. If a player retires, markets that can be unconditionally settled based on completed play resolve accordingly; those that cannot are settled at Fair Market Price at the Exchange's discretion.
Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different liquidity pools, risk models, and trader bases. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage liability; prediction markets aggregate decentralized trader beliefs in real time. This market may show tighter or wider spreads than sportsbooks depending on how much capital is deployed and how confident traders are about the match outcome. Comparing the two can reveal arbitrage opportunities or signal where informed money is flowing.
Polymarket and Kalshi may price this market differently due to variations in contract design, user base composition, and liquidity depth. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For example, one platform may offer a binary on match completion while the other focuses on set score, attracting different trader strategies. Regulatory frameworks, fee structures, and the timing of order flow also influence how quickly each platform's price responds to new information. Monitoring both helps you identify mispricings and understand which venue has stronger conviction.
Player form, recent head-to-head records, court conditions, and injury reports are key catalysts that can shift odds before the match begins. News of lineup changes, weather delays, or tournament bracket updates may also trigger repricing. During play, real-time score updates and momentum swings often cause sharp price moves as traders update their edge. Monitoring tennis news feeds and social sentiment can help you anticipate volatility and spot value shifts in this market.
