Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective wisdom of crowd. If sportsbook odds significantly differ from those found here, it could indicate disagreement about the true probabilities of each player winning. Discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, biases, or simply the unique dynamics of each type of betting venue. It’s valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each player winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more people trade, the price adjusts to represent the evolving consensus. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and sentiment. The current price indicates what traders are willing to pay for a share representing a particular outcome.
