Frequently asked questions

On Kalshi, the Houston-Toronto first 5 spread market dashboard displays real-time odds and price history for how the first five innings will unfold between these two teams. The interface tracks current market probability, historical price movements, and trading volume to help you monitor sentiment shifts. This market focuses specifically on the run differential during the opening frame, offering a narrower window than full-game spreads. You can view $6,741 in recent trading activity and observe how odds have evolved as game time approaches, giving you insight into where the crowd is positioning itself on early-game outcomes.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders risking real capital on their conviction. Prediction markets tend to incorporate breaking news and sentiment shifts more rapidly, sometimes pricing outcomes ahead of sportsbooks. However, sportsbooks benefit from sharp professional bettors and sophisticated algorithms. Comparing this market's odds to your preferred sportsbook can reveal valuable discrepancies and help you identify mispriced outcomes before they correct.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the collective belief of all active traders at any given moment. Each share pays out a fixed amount if that outcome occurs, and the market price—ranging from 0 to 100—represents the implied probability. As new information emerges or trading volume shifts, prices adjust dynamically. You can place limit or market orders to enter or exit positions, and the spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity and uncertainty around the first-five run differential.

This market resolves around Jun 23, 2026, once the first five innings of the Houston-Toronto game are complete and the final run differential is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual runs scored by each team during that five-inning window, with no adjustments for later innings or final score. Resolution is straightforward and objective, tied directly to official game statistics. Once the fifth inning concludes and the score is confirmed, the market will settle automatically based on which outcome occurred.

Several catalysts can shift odds before this market closes. Injury announcements or roster changes to key players—especially starting pitchers or cleanup hitters—often trigger sharp repricing. Weather updates, particularly wind direction and temperature, influence early-inning scoring patterns. Betting line moves at major sportsbooks can signal sharp action and pull prediction market prices along. Team momentum, recent offensive or defensive trends, and head-to-head matchup history all influence trader positioning. Breaking news about player availability or last-minute lineup adjustments in the hours before first pitch typically generates the most volatile price swings as traders reassess their edge.
