Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant pools and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders risking real money on outcomes. This market may show different implied probabilities than what you'd find at a sportsbook, especially as new information emerges closer to game time. Comparing the two can reveal where the broader trading community sees value relative to conventional oddsmakers.

On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for contracts representing different outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome, with contracts ranging from $0 to $1. As new trades execute, prices update in real time. You can enter limit or market orders to take positions, and your profit or loss is determined by the final settlement price once the event concludes.

This market resolves around Jun 14, 2026, once the first five innings of the Houston-Kansas City game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will reflect which team scored more runs during that five-inning window. All open positions settle automatically based on the verified result, with winners receiving $1 per contract and losers receiving $0. Resolution typically occurs shortly after the game data is confirmed.

Several factors can shift odds before the game begins: lineup announcements, injury reports, weather conditions, and recent team performance trends. Starting pitcher form and bullpen availability often influence early-inning scoring expectations. Breaking news about roster changes or weather delays can trigger sharp moves. Once the game starts, each run scored, base hit, or pitching change will ripple through the market as traders update their forecasts. Late-arriving information about field conditions or umpire assignments may also impact trading activity.
