In the upcoming MLS game between Houston Dynamo and D.C. United SC, scheduled for July 22, 2026 at 8:30 PM ET: This market will resolve based on the final score of the Houston Dynamo vs. D.C. United SC match originally scheduled for July 22, 2026 at 8:30 PM ET, considering only the result at the end of 90 minutes of regulation plus stoppage time; extra time and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. If the actual score is not one of the explicitly listed outcomes, the market resolves to "Any Other Score." If the match is postponed, the market will remain open until it is completed; if it is canceled with no make-up game, the market resolves to "0-0." The primary resolution source for this market is the official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. However, if the governing body or event organizers have not published final match statistics within 2 hours after the event's conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead. All markets will settle based on the official final result as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.
Resolution is determined by the combined goal total in the Houston vs DC United MLS match scheduled for July 22, 2026, measured after 90 minutes plus stoppage time (excluding extra time or penalties). Four distinct over/under thresholds are offered: over 1.5 goals, over 2.5 goals, over 3.5 goals, and over 4.5 goals. Each outcome resolves independently based on whether the total goals scored by both teams combined exceeds the specified threshold.
Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently because they operate under distinct incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, often adjusting lines based on bet flow rather than pure probability. Prediction markets, by contrast, rely on traders risking real capital to discover prices; there is no house margin, and odds converge toward true probability as more participants trade. Exact-score markets like this one tend to show wider spreads on sportsbooks due to the large outcome space, whereas prediction markets can price niche outcomes more efficiently. Both venues reflect information asymmetries, but prediction markets often lead sportsbooks in incorporating late-breaking news because traders update positions in real time without operational delays.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and settlement rule interpretations, which can cause temporary price divergence. Polymarket and Kalshi may also differ in how they define edge cases—for instance, whether extra time or penalty shootouts affect the recorded score. Market depth varies between venues; thin liquidity on one platform can allow prices to drift further from the other's consensus. Additionally, traders on each platform may weight recent team performance, injury reports, or weather forecasts differently, leading to distinct probability estimates. These gaps typically narrow as informed traders arbitrage across platforms, but during low-volume periods or around breaking news, meaningful spreads can persist.
Team news—including injuries to key strikers, midfielders, or defenders—can significantly shift exact-score odds by altering expected goal output. Lineup announcements, managerial changes, or unexpected roster rotations often trigger repricing as traders reassess attacking and defensive capability. Recent form, head-to-head history, and travel fatigue also influence market movement; a string of draws or high-scoring results will push odds toward certain score ranges. Weather conditions closer to kickoff may favor either team's style of play, prompting late adjustments. Additionally, betting-market activity on related markets—such as over/under total goals or match winner—can cascade into this market as traders hedge positions or rebalance portfolios. Real-time social media sentiment and expert commentary may also drive speculative trading.
