On Polymarket, traders set the odds by directly bidding on the probability of different outcomes, while Kalshi uses a different mechanism. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. This difference in market mechanics, along with variations in user base and trading activity, can lead to price discrepancies. Furthermore, the liquidity and volume on each platform play a role; lower volume can result in wider bid-ask spreads and more volatile pricing. The differing viewpoints of traders on each platform also contribute to these divergences, creating opportunities for arbitrage.
