Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance liability and profit, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders risking real capital on their forecasts. Prediction markets frequently incorporate breaking news and sentiment shifts faster than sportsbooks adjust their lines. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where professional and retail traders disagree, potentially signaling value or consensus blind spots.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative bets placed on it; as more capital flows toward one result, its price rises and the competing outcome falls. Traders profit by buying low and selling high, or by holding shares until resolution. The continuous pricing model ensures liquidity and allows real-time discovery of the true probability traders assign to this second-half result.
This market resolves around Jul 23, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals during the second 45 minutes of play. A draw in the second half would typically resolve to a draw outcome if that option exists in the market structure. Resolution occurs shortly after the final whistle, pending confirmation from official match records.
Team news—injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff—can shift odds significantly, as can recent form, head-to-head history, and weather conditions on match day. Early first-half momentum often influences second-half expectations; if one team dominates the opening 45 minutes, traders may reprice the second-half outcome accordingly. Tactical adjustments at halftime, substitutions, and in-game injuries during the first half all feed into revised forecasts. Live betting activity during the first half typically generates the largest price swings, as traders update their models with real performance data.
