Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven purely by trader supply and demand. Traders here stake real capital on outcomes, creating strong incentives for accuracy. Sportsbooks may adjust lines based on liability management rather than true probability. Over time, prediction markets have shown competitive or superior accuracy to traditional odds, particularly when traders have specialized knowledge. Comparing this market's prices to major sportsbook lines can reveal where the crowd sees value.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares at prices determined by a bonding curve. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy a particular outcome, its price rises; selling pressure lowers it. Each outcome's price represents the crowd's estimated probability of that result occurring. Traders profit by buying underpriced outcomes and selling overpriced ones. The continuous pricing model means odds update instantly with every trade, reflecting real-time shifts in trader sentiment about the second half result.

This market resolves around Jul 31, 2026, once the match concludes and the second-half result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the actual events that unfold after halftime—whether one team scores more goals, the teams finish level, or other relevant conditions specified in the market terms. Resolution occurs after official confirmation, ensuring all traders have access to the same factual basis for settlement. Early resolution is possible if circumstances make the outcome mathematically certain before the final whistle.

Several factors could shift odds significantly before the match resumes. Team news—injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced before kickoff—often triggers sharp price moves. Pre-match analysis from respected analysts or media coverage highlighting tactical adjustments can sway trader positioning. Historical head-to-head records, recent form, and home-field advantage are continuously priced in but may be re-evaluated if new information emerges. Early first-half events, such as an unexpected goal or red card, will ripple into second-half expectations as traders update their forecasts. Weather conditions or pitch quality reported just before the second half could also influence trading activity and outcome probabilities.
