Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action, while this market aggregates diverse opinions. If many bettors believe a team is more likely to score first than sportsbooks suggest, the prediction market odds will likely shift to reflect that belief. It’s common to see prediction markets offer more accurate probabilities, especially as the event nears, as more information becomes available and the market incorporates new data. Examining both can provide a well-rounded view of potential outcomes.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective prediction.
