Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets price outcomes through open trading among many participants with real money at stake. This market's odds may lead or lag sportsbook lines depending on which venue processes new information faster. Traders comparing the two often spot value when prediction market prices deviate from traditional betting odds, though both should converge as the match approaches and uncertainty decreases.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Hammarby win, Kalmar win, or draw in the second half—has its own share price, ranging from near zero to near one dollar. The combined value of all outcome shares always totals one dollar, so prices directly reflect implied probabilities. As new information emerges or sentiment shifts, traders adjust positions, moving prices up or down. This continuous price discovery mechanism ensures the market reflects the collective judgment of all active participants.
This market resolves around Jul 12, 2026, once the second half of the Hammarby versus Kalmar match concludes and the result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official final score recorded for the second half only, not the full match. If Hammarby scores more goals in the second half, that outcome wins; if Kalmar scores more, that outcome wins; if both teams score equally in the second half, the draw outcome wins. Resolution occurs shortly after the match ends and the result is confirmed through standard sports reporting channels.
Several factors can shift prices before the match begins and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers immediate repricing. Weather conditions, venue factors, and recent form updates influence trader confidence. Early first-half momentum and goals can reshape second-half expectations, as teams may adjust strategy after halftime. Betting syndicates and sharp traders moving large positions can also move prices. Real-time match flow, substitutions, and disciplinary events (yellow or red cards) all provide new information that traders incorporate into their second-half outcome assessments.
