Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant pools and incentive structures. On Polymarket, traders stake real capital on outcomes, creating prices driven by collective belief rather than bookmaker margins. Sportsbooks, by contrast, set odds to balance liability and extract a built-in edge. For this market, comparing prediction market prices to major sportsbooks can reveal whether professional bettors and casual traders lean differently on the second-half result. Such gaps sometimes signal value or consensus shifts worth monitoring before the match begins.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices reflect the collective willingness of participants to back Hammarby, a draw, or Degerfors in the second half. As traders place orders, the price adjusts in real time, with higher prices indicating stronger market confidence in that outcome. Liquidity and trading volume directly influence how tightly prices cluster and how easily large orders can be filled without significant slippage.

This market resolves around Jul 19, 2026, once the Hammarby vs. Degerfors match concludes and the second-half result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official final score recorded during the second 45 minutes of play. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution timing depends on match completion and confirmation from reliable sports data providers, ensuring accuracy before funds are distributed.

Several factors can shift odds before kickoff and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers sharp price moves. Early first-half performance, including goals, red cards, or momentum swings, frequently reshapes second-half expectations. Weather conditions, home-field advantage, and recent form also influence trader positioning. Betting syndicates or sharp money entering the market can create sudden repricing. Additionally, real-time match flow—such as a team going down a goal or playing defensive—may cause traders to reassess the likelihood of each second-half outcome, driving volatility in this market.
