This event covers the Australian Football League match between the GWS Giants and Hawthorn Hawks scheduled for June 26, 2026. Separate markets track whether each team will win their head-to-head matchup.
These markets resolve based on the outcome of the GWS Giants vs Hawthorn Hawks AFL game originally scheduled for June 26, 2026. Each market resolves to Yes if its corresponding team wins the match. In the event of a tie, both markets resolve to 50/50. If the game is cancelled or rescheduled to more than two weeks after the original date, markets will resolve to a fair price determined in accordance with standard resolution procedures.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and audiences. Sportsbooks set odds to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets reflect the collective belief of traders risking real money on outcomes. Prediction markets typically incorporate a wider range of information and can adjust faster to breaking news or sentiment shifts. However, sportsbook odds benefit from professional oddsmakers' expertise and sharp action from sophisticated bettors. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where traders and professional oddsmakers disagree, potentially signaling value or consensus.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares representing each possible outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the market's implied probability: a share trading at $0.72 suggests a 72% chance of that outcome occurring. As new trades execute, prices update in real time, and the spread between bid and ask widens or tightens based on liquidity and uncertainty. This dynamic pricing model ensures that odds remain responsive to fresh information and trader conviction.
This market resolves around Jun 26, 2026, once the matchup concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the final score and official result of the game between the two teams. Until that point, traders can continue to buy and sell shares as odds fluctuate. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, after which no further trading is permitted and payouts are distributed to holders of the winning shares.
Key catalysts include team news such as player injuries, lineup changes, or roster updates that affect competitive balance. Weather conditions on game day can influence play style and scoring. Recent form, head-to-head records, and betting line movements from major sportsbooks often trigger repricing as traders react to professional consensus. Media coverage, expert predictions, and social sentiment can also shift market odds. Trading volume spikes typically occur closer to kickoff as casual and professional traders finalize positions, and any last-minute developments—such as late-breaking injuries or venue changes—can cause sharp price swings.
