Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market aggregates the wisdom of the crowd. If a significant number of people believe an outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds here will shift accordingly. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply a wider range of participants influencing the price. It's worth comparing the implied probabilities to see where the market diverges from conventional betting lines.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring.
