Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can differ due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading rules, and liquidity, which can influence price discovery. Differences in the types of traders participating – for example, more sophisticated or casual bettors on each – also contribute to price variations. Furthermore, the specific mechanisms for trading and order execution on each platform can lead to temporary imbalances. These differences aren't necessarily contradictions, but rather reflect the independent price discovery processes happening simultaneously on each venue.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in playing conditions, or updated match schedules would likely cause price movement. Unexpected announcements about player form or strategy could also influence trader behavior. Furthermore, shifts in overall betting sentiment, potentially triggered by large trades on either Polymarket or Kalshi, could create momentum. Finally, any developments that affect public perception of the players' chances of winning will likely be reflected in the market price.
