Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. For this market, comparing the implied probability here to major sportsbook lines on the same second-half outcome can reveal whether traders are pricing in information that oddsmakers have not yet fully reflected. Prediction markets tend to be efficient at incorporating late-breaking news, whereas sportsbooks may lag slightly due to operational constraints.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into continuous probability quotes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price you see represents the real-time consensus of all active traders; as more capital flows into one outcome, the odds shift to reflect that demand. Traders profit by correctly predicting the second-half result, and the mechanism incentivizes accurate forecasting because mispriced outcomes attract arbitrage activity that corrects the quote back toward fair value.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone, independent of the first-half score. Resolution occurs after sufficient confirmation from reliable sports data sources, ensuring accuracy before payouts are finalized. Traders holding the winning outcome receive their share of the pool proportional to their position size.
Key catalysts include team news such as injuries, lineup changes, or tactical shifts announced before kickoff, all of which can alter perceived second-half performance. In-game developments—such as a red card, early goals, or substitutions during the first half—often trigger significant repricing as traders update their forecasts based on live momentum. Weather conditions, venue factors, and recent form updates can also shift odds. Close to the end date, any official announcements regarding player availability or match postponements would prompt immediate market reaction.
