On Polymarket and Kalshi, prices can diverge due to differences in user bases, liquidity depth, and fee structures. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts traders with different risk appetites and information sets, so the same event may be priced differently across venues. Lower liquidity on one platform can amplify price swings, while regulatory or technical constraints may also create temporary gaps. Arbitrage traders often exploit these spreads, but friction costs and platform-specific rules can prevent prices from converging instantly.
Key catalysts include team roster changes, injury announcements, recent performance trends, and head-to-head historical matchups. Weather conditions, home-field advantage, and coaching decisions can also shift trader sentiment. Media coverage and expert commentary often trigger repricing as new information surfaces. Close to game day, late-breaking news—such as last-minute lineup adjustments or player status updates—typically drives the sharpest moves. Monitor sports news outlets and official team announcements for developments that could influence this market's trajectory.
