Prediction market odds often reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the outcome. Therefore, discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk assessments. It’s common to see this market diverge from sportsbook odds, particularly when there’s strong public sentiment or specialized knowledge influencing trader behavior. Comparing the two can offer a broader understanding of potential outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of a specific outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to reflect the collective forecast. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by supply and demand, influenced by news, analysis, and any other information traders deem relevant to the German T10 cricket match.
