Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a ‘vig’ or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to breaking news or changes in player form, potentially providing a more accurate reflection of the true likelihood of an outcome than traditional odds. This market's pricing reflects the collective wisdom of traders.
