Prediction markets and sportsbooks price events differently. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets rely on trader consensus to discover true probability. On this market, odds emerge from supply and demand among participants betting their own capital, often reflecting sharper analysis than traditional sportsbook lines. Comparing the two can reveal value: if prediction traders are more bullish on one team than sportsbooks, that signals potential edge in either direction.
Kalshi and Limitless can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, all of which influence how odds settle. Kalshi and Limitless may also enforce slightly different rules around market closure timing or outcome verification, leading to tactical positioning differences before resolution. Arbitrage traders exploit these gaps, but temporary spreads often persist due to withdrawal friction, platform-specific trust, or regional trader concentration.
