Sportsbooks may focus more on public perception and established team statistics, while this market allows anyone to trade on their informed opinions. Discrepancies can arise due to differing risk assessments, varying levels of information available to each group, and the incentive structures inherent in each type of betting venue. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible exact score. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. The market’s price movements are driven by supply and demand, with increased buying pressure raising the price and increased selling pressure lowering it. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date predictions.
