Polymarket and Kalshi can show different odds on the same event due to variations in user base, liquidity, and trading mechanics. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts traders with different risk tolerances, information sets, and time horizons, causing temporary price gaps. Polymarket's order-book model may react faster to breaking news, while Kalshi's structure can create friction that delays repricing. Arbitrageurs typically exploit these spreads, but gaps can persist if transaction costs or withdrawal delays make trading uneconomical. Monitoring both venues helps you identify which platform is pricing the event more accurately.
Key catalysts include roster changes, injury announcements, recent team performance, and head-to-head historical trends. Weather conditions on game day, home-field advantage factors, and late-breaking lineup adjustments can shift trader sentiment significantly. Major news—such as a star player's status confirmation or coaching decisions—often triggers sharp repricing across both platforms. Public betting patterns and social media momentum may also influence prices, especially as the event approaches. Monitoring team news feeds and sports media will help you anticipate moves before they're fully priced in.
