Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and operate under different constraints. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage risk, while prediction markets reflect the aggregated beliefs of many independent traders with real money at stake. This market's odds may move faster or slower than traditional sportsbooks depending on trader activity and information flow. Comparing the two can reveal whether professional oddsmakers and decentralized traders agree on the likely outcome, offering insight into consensus strength.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares corresponding to each outcome, and the price of each share reflects the market's current belief in that result. As more traders bet on one outcome, its price rises and the competing outcome's price falls, creating a continuous price discovery mechanism. The spread between bid and ask prices tightens or widens based on trading volume and participation.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals during the second half only, independent of the first-half score. Traders who correctly predicted the result will receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution happens automatically once the event data is confirmed and finalized.
Several factors could shift this market significantly before kickoff and during the match. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers sharp price moves. Early first-half momentum and goals can reshape second-half expectations, as traders reassess fatigue, morale, and strategic adjustments. Weather conditions, referee assignments, and historical head-to-head patterns may also influence trader positioning. Real-time match events like red cards or substitutions can cause rapid repricing as the probability of each outcome changes.
