Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders risking real capital on outcomes. This market may show materially different probabilities than conventional sports betting venues, particularly if informed traders spot value or if public perception lags behind emerging game conditions. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs most sharply.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares corresponding to each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative trades placed by the community; as more capital flows into one outcome, its price rises and its implied probability increases. Traders profit by correctly predicting the second half result, and the continuous pricing model ensures liquidity and real-time discovery of the market's true belief about the event.
This market resolves around Aug 1, 2026, once the match concludes and the second-half result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the actual goals, draws, or wins that occur in the second 45 minutes of play between the two teams. Resolution occurs after the final whistle and official confirmation, ensuring that all trading ceases and payouts are calculated based on the confirmed result.
Several factors may shift odds before kickoff and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—can alter expectations for second-half performance. First-half momentum, scoreline, and player fatigue all influence how traders price the second-half outcome. Weather conditions, referee decisions, and unexpected tactical shifts during play may also prompt repricing. As the match progresses, real-time information about team form and match dynamics will likely cause significant price swings in this market.
