Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margin, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders seeking profit through accurate forecasting. Prediction markets can sometimes price outcomes more efficiently than traditional sportsbooks because participants have direct financial exposure and no house edge to overcome. Comparing the two can reveal where public perception differs from professional oddsmaking, though both should be viewed as estimates rather than certainties.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the aggregate belief of all active traders at any given moment. As new information emerges—team lineups, weather, or early match action—traders adjust their positions, moving the price. Liquidity depth determines how much you can trade without significant slippage, and the spread between bid and ask prices reflects the market's confidence in the outcome.

This market resolves around Jul 16, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the actual score or result recorded in the second half only, independent of first-half events. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the final whistle, pending confirmation from official match data. Until that point, this market remains open for trading and reflects the collective forecast of all participants.

Key catalysts include confirmed team lineups and injury announcements, which can shift expectations around attacking or defensive strength in the second half. Early match momentum—particularly first-half goals or red cards—often influences how traders price the second-half outcome, since teams may adjust tactics or motivation. Weather changes, referee decisions, and substitution patterns during the first half can all signal how the second half might unfold. Live odds typically become more volatile as kickoff approaches and real match data replaces speculation, with each goal or tactical shift triggering immediate repricing.
