Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate beliefs from thousands of independent traders with real money at stake. Traders here face direct financial consequences for accuracy, which can surface information faster than traditional oddsmakers. However, both venues ultimately converge toward similar prices as major moves in one venue typically influence the other over time.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares directly. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative trades of all participants; as more traders buy shares for a particular team to score first, that outcome's price rises and its implied probability increases. You can enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes, and your trade size influences the price you receive. This continuous pricing model ensures liquidity and allows real-time discovery of the true probability.

This market resolves around Jul 23, 2026, once the match concludes and the first goal is verified. The outcome is determined by which team scores the opening goal in regulation play. Resolution is confirmed once the event result is verifiable from credible public reporting and official match records. All positions settle automatically based on the verified outcome, and traders who backed the correct team receive their winnings proportional to the final odds at which they entered.

Several factors can shift odds before kickoff: team news such as injuries to key attacking players, lineup announcements, recent form and goal-scoring trends, and head-to-head historical patterns. Weather conditions on match day may also influence early pressure and scoring likelihood. As the start time approaches, late money flowing into one outcome can create sharp price moves. Live updates during the pre-match period, such as confirmed starting lineups or last-minute tactical changes, often trigger significant repricing as traders adjust their positions based on fresh information.
