Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own research and insights. If there's a significant discrepancy, it might suggest the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the event or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into the sportsbook's lines. Examining these differences can reveal potential value for informed bettors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market's collective probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. Higher demand for shares in a particular outcome will drive up its price, indicating a greater perceived likelihood of that result. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to evolving expectations.
