Prediction market odds on this market often differ from traditional sportsbook lines due to the decentralized nature of trading. While sportsbooks may incorporate additional factors or margins, prediction markets let participants bet directly on their beliefs, sometimes producing sharper or more volatile prices. The spread between the two can also reflect differing user bases and trading dynamics.
On Polymarket and Kalshi, prices can vary because of differences in user participation, liquidity, and fee structures. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For instance, one platform might have more traders focused on football, leading to tighter odds around certain outcomes. Additionally, each venue sets its own rules around order execution and market maker behavior, which can push prices apart.
Injuries to key players, weather conditions affecting the pitch, or shifting team form in the days leading up to the match could all move this market. Additionally, any major betting trends on either Polymarket or Kalshi — especially large trades or changes in volume — may cause prices to adjust rapidly as traders react to new information.
