Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets like this one are driven by trader consensus and real-time information flow. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbooks can reveal where the crowd sees edge or where late-breaking news has shifted sentiment. Many traders monitor both venues to identify arbitrage opportunities or validate their own views on the second half outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the cumulative trades and liquidity provided by the community, with odds updating continuously as new positions are entered. Traders profit by correctly predicting the second half result, and the market's price at any moment represents the collective probability estimate of all active participants.
This market resolves around Aug 1, 2026, once the MLS match concludes and the second half result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone, independent of the first half or final match score. Resolution occurs after official confirmation of the final second half scoreline, ensuring accuracy and fairness for all traders holding positions at close.
Key events that could shift this market include team news such as injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements before kickoff. In-game developments like early second half goals, red cards, or momentum swings will drive rapid repricing as traders react to live action. Weather conditions, home-field advantage factors, and recent form updates on either side can also influence trader sentiment. Late-breaking roster updates or coaching decisions announced shortly before the second half begins may trigger significant volume spikes and price movement.
