This prediction market asks participants to forecast which NFL team's defense and special teams (D/ST) will score the most fantasy points in Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL season, using ESPN's default fantasy scoring. Ties are broken alphabetically by team name. The market also accounts for potential cancellation or postponement of Week 1 games.
This market will resolve to the team defense and special teams (D/ST) unit that finishes Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season as the highest-scoring D/ST under the default scoring of ESPN Fantasy Sports. Only games designated by the NFL as Week 1 of the 2026-27 regular season count. If two or more units are tied for the most fantasy points in Week 1, this market will resolve in favor of the tied unit whose team name comes first alphabetically. If the highest-scoring D/ST in Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season is not a listed unit, this market will resolve to "Other". If Week 1 of the 2026-27 NFL regular season is cancelled, postponed past September 30, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, or a leader cannot be determined within this timeframe, this market will resolve to "Other". The resolution source will be official Week 1 statistics as reported by ESPN Fantasy Sports (https://www.espn.com/fantasy/).
All markets resolve based on fantasy points accumulated by specified players or defensive units during the full game, including overtime, of the Atlanta vs Pittsburgh match scheduled for Sep 13, 2026. Fantasy points are calculated using Sleeper’s default full-PPR scoring system, which awards points for various statistical categories such as passing and rushing yards, touchdowns, receptions, field goals, sacks, interceptions, and defensive performances. Players who do not participate or are not assigned a fantasy-point value by Sleeper are considered to have scored zero points. The official fantasy-point totals published by Sleeper at the time of market expiration are used for resolution, with no adjustments for post-expiration corrections. Markets resolve to "Yes" if the specified athlete or defensive unit records more fantasy points than the threshold outlined in the respective rule; otherwise, they resolve to "No". Each rule specifies a unique athlete or unit and a distinct point threshold that must be exceeded for a favorable outcome.
Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and risk management, while this market relies on individuals betting with their own capital. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment diverges from expert analysis. While sportsbooks typically offer simpler bet types, this market allows for more nuanced predictions about the NFL D/ST points race. The difference in odds can also reflect differing levels of liquidity and market efficiency.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi may differ due to variations in user base, trading activity, and market-specific rules. Polymarket might attract a different type of trader than Kalshi, leading to differing opinions on the likely outcome of the NFL D/ST points race. Furthermore, the volume of trading on each platform—currently $27,436 overall—can influence price discovery. Different fee structures and liquidity provisions on each platform can also contribute to these price discrepancies. It’s important to consider these factors when analyzing the market and forming your own predictions.
