Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery. Traders here have direct financial exposure to accuracy, which can surface information faster than sportsbooks adjust their lines. However, sportsbooks may incorporate sharper professional betting syndicates. Comparing both sources helps you identify where consensus is strongest and where outlier views might offer value.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probability estimates for each team outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices move continuously as new wagers flow in, reflecting the collective forecast of all active traders. Each team's contract price directly represents its implied win probability; a contract trading at 0.65 means the market assigns a 65% chance to that outcome. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices respond to new information, so periods of high activity can sharpen price accuracy.
Key catalysts include individual match results, team roster changes or player substitutions, and injury or availability announcements affecting star players. Upsets or dominant performances in early rounds can shift odds dramatically as traders reassess championship prospects. Meta shifts in game balance patches and strategic innovations can favor certain teams over others. Media coverage highlighting a team's form, coaching changes, or internal conflicts also influences trader sentiment. Monitor official tournament updates, team social media, and esports analyst commentary to stay ahead of price movements driven by these events.
