Description

This market will resolve according to how much "Evil Dead Burn" Opening Weekend Box Office will gross domestically on its opening weekend. The "Daily Box Office Performance" figures found on the “Box Office” tab on this movie's The Numbers (https://www.the-numbers.com/) page will be used to resolve this market once the values for the 3-day opening weekend (July 10 - July 12) are final (i.e., not studio estimates). If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. Please note, this market will resolve according to the The Numbers figures provided under Weekend Box Office Performance for the 3-day weekend (which typically includes Thursday's previews), regardless of whether domestic refers to only the USA, or to USA and Canada, etc. If there is ambiguity as to whether the resolution source's figures are final, this market will remain open until both https://www.boxofficemojo.com/ and https://www.the-numbers.com/ have confirmed their finalized figures. If there is no final data available by July 17, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen.

Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Evil Dead Burn opening weekend box office market dashboard displays real-time odds and historical price movements for how much the film will earn during its opening weekend theatrical run. Traders can monitor current probabilities for different box office outcome brackets, review 24-hour volume activity, and track how sentiment shifts as release approaches. The dashboard aggregates all active outcome contracts tied to this event, allowing participants to compare relative odds across the full range of possible box office performance bands and identify which outcomes command the most trading interest.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional analyst forecasts because they reflect real-money commitments from traders with skin in the game, whereas analyst estimates are typically point projections without financial incentive alignment. In this market, traders are pricing in box office outcomes based on early ticket sales, marketing spend, audience sentiment, and comparable film performance—factors that analysts also weigh, but with different weightings and time horizons. When professional forecasters and prediction market participants disagree significantly, it often signals either new information entering the market or differing interpretations of existing data. Comparing the two approaches can reveal blind spots in either methodology.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares, and the price of each share reflects the collective probability assigned by all participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome bracket has its own contract, and the cost to purchase a share rises or falls based on demand and supply dynamics. Traders profit by buying low-probability outcomes that later increase in value or by selling high-probability outcomes before they decline. The platform's fee structure and liquidity depth influence how tightly prices track the true underlying probabilities.

This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, once the opening weekend box office performance is finalized and verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome will be confirmed by comparing actual box office earnings to the predetermined bracket thresholds established at market creation. Traders holding shares in the outcome bracket that matches the verified box office total will receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within days of the weekend close, once studios and box office tracking services release official figures.

Key catalysts include early ticket pre-sales data, social media sentiment shifts, competing film releases, critical reviews, and any production or marketing news affecting audience perception. Weather, major news events, or unexpected celebrity involvement can also sway trader expectations. Box office tracking services publish weekend forecasts as release approaches, and these professional estimates often trigger repricing on the market. Additionally, comparable film performance data—especially from recent horror or franchise releases—provides benchmarks that traders use to adjust their probability assessments. Real-time adjustments accelerate as opening weekend draws closer and uncertainty narrows.
