Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like marketing or house biases, while this market is driven purely by individuals wagering their own capital. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Examining these differences can offer insights into public perception versus professional analysis, and potentially identify value in either market.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular outcome will happen, the higher the share price will rise, and vice versa. This creates a dynamic pricing system that reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants.
