Prediction market odds on this market often differ from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect decentralized trader sentiment rather than set bookmaker adjustments. On platforms like Polymarket, prices can show sharper divergences or higher implied probabilities for specific outcomes, especially for less common scorelines. Sportsbooks typically offer a broader range of markets but may smooth probabilities to manage risk, while prediction markets let ultra-specific bets like exact scores trade freely, sometimes yielding higher potential returns for traders.
On Polymarket and Kalshi, prices can vary due to differences in user bases, liquidity depth, and how each platform handles order flow. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For instance, Polymarket might attract more traders focused on Argentine football, skewing its odds toward certain scorelines, while Kalshi could have a more global user base that prices in broader market trends. These dynamics often create temporary mispricings, letting sharp traders exploit gaps until consensus aligns closer.
