This set of markets focuses on predicting the outcome of the fourth quarter in an upcoming college football game. Each market assesses different point spreads to determine whether one team will outperform the other by a specific margin in the final quarter of play.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the 4th quarter (excluding overtime) of the Eastern Michigan vs Michigan St. college football game scheduled for Sep 12, 2026. A 'Yes' outcome occurs if the specified team wins the 4th quarter by more than the stated point spread. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, markets resolve to a fair price. All markets are independent, each corresponding to a different point spread threshold for either team.
Generally, prediction markets and sportsbooks often arrive at similar probabilities, but they do so through different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately forecast the event's outcome. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamics of supply and demand within the prediction market. It's common to see this market diverge from initial sportsbook lines as new information becomes available and more traders participate.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders can buy and sell contracts representing their beliefs about the 4th quarter spread. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, with higher prices indicating a greater perceived chance of success for Michigan State covering the spread. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price adjusts dynamically based on the forces of supply and demand, meaning that as more people buy contracts predicting a Michigan State win, the price will increase, and vice versa.
This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome determined by the actual point spread achieved in the 4th quarter of the Eastern Michigan versus Michigan State football game. The result will be verified against credible public reporting of the game’s final score. The platform will then confirm whether Michigan State won the 4th quarter by more or less than the spread indicated at the time of closure, settling the market accordingly.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before resolution. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either team, particularly the quarterback or key defensive players, would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, especially if severe weather is predicted, could also shift the market. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team strategy or coaching decisions could also move the price. Public sentiment and betting trends observed in sportsbooks could also influence trader behavior and, consequently, the price of contracts in this market.
