Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform has its own user base, trading fees, and liquidity, which can influence price discovery. Furthermore, the types of markets offered and the specific rules governing trading may differ, leading to variations in how information is incorporated into prices. The volume traded on each platform also plays a role; higher volume generally leads to tighter spreads and more efficient pricing. These differences create opportunities for arbitrage, where traders attempt to profit from price discrepancies across venues.
Several signals could influence trading activity and move this market. News regarding player injuries, coaching changes, or team performance could all impact perceived probabilities. Unexpected weather forecasts or changes in the game's location might also shift the odds. Public sentiment, as reflected in social media and news coverage, can also play a role, especially as the game draws closer. Any significant development related to either team has the potential to alter the market price and trading volume.
