This set of markets tracks how many points each team scores in an upcoming college football game. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold for a team, determining whether they exceed that threshold during the game.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals for Duke and Illinois in their college football game scheduled for September 12, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores more than the stated point threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to attract balanced betting and incorporate a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the probability of different team total outcomes. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of both markets. If significant differences exist, arbitrage opportunities may emerge for traders who can capitalize on the mispricing between the two.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different team total outcomes. The price of a contract reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the prices adjust to reflect new information and changing sentiment. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as profitable trades are rewarded, while those who misjudge the outcome risk losing their investment. This dynamic pricing mechanism aims to converge towards a fair and efficient assessment of the likely team totals.
This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final team totals for Duke and Illinois will be sourced from official game statistics. The market will settle based on the combined total points scored by both teams during the game. Any overtime periods will be included in the final score. The resolution process ensures a transparent and objective determination of the winning contracts, based on publicly available and verifiable data.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Duke or Illinois would likely cause significant shifts. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team’s playing style, could also impact trading activity. Public sentiment, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, can also play a role, though the market often corrects for initial biases. Any significant developments related to team performance or strategic adjustments could move the market as traders reassess the probabilities.
