Several factors could shift odds before the match begins. Roster announcements or last-minute player substitutions often trigger sharp moves, as do recent tournament results or head-to-head records between the teams. Patch updates to Dota 2 itself can alter hero viability and team preparation timelines. Community sentiment, coaching changes, or public statements from players may also influence trader positioning. Closer to match time, betting syndicates and sharp money typically flow in, potentially correcting any mispricing and tightening the odds as the event draws near.
